Niagara’s public health committee has approved a $4 million suicide barrier for Burgoyne Bridge.
The Standard reports that the acting Medical Officer of Health proposed several initiatives on Tuesday, saying that there’s been a slight increase in suicides in the last few years.
In November, St. Catharines city council approved funding for the barrier in their 2019 budget, but critics said the money could be better used to fund mental health PROGRAMS.
