A meeting between residents and Niagara Regional Police officers revealed concerning statistics. Nearly 50 homes in Fort Erie were victim to break-in’s since the beginning of October. Detective Andrew McMeekin and Niagara Regional Police met with residents on Thursday, to discuss what steps can be taken to prevent future crimes. Police say patrols have been doubled in the community, while additional resources are being put to use including canine units, parks police, and a forensic unit that is used during break-in investigations.
