Since 1998, the Koats for Kids program has strived to bring warmth to the Welland area. Now in its 20th year, the program continues to provide winter apparel to those who need it. The operation is run out of Central United Church, and is partnered with the Hope Centre to bring necessities for anyone, not just kids. Even local dry cleaners and laundromats have pitched in to help, providing cleaning services for anyone looking to donate to the cause. So far, the program has received help from all over the community in gathering warm clothing, and are on track to be able to give more than enough to people in desperate need. If you’re interested in donating, you can drop off any donations to their location on the corners of King and Young Streets until December 15th. Their doors are open Monday to Friday, between 11:00am and 3:00pm.
